The Union Budget 2026–27 highlights India’s fast progress toward deep decarbonisation and improved energy efficiency. As the country moves steadily toward exceeding its 2030 target of reducing emissions intensity by 45%, India is now expected to achieve a 48–57% reduction compared to 2005 levels. The budget announcement of ₹20,000 crore allocation over five years to promote Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) technologies is a significant and timely step. This initiative marks a major milestone in India’s efforts to reduce industrial emissions and transition to a low-carbon economy.
As a knowledge-driven organisation committed to advancing high-efficiency pumping systems, Pump Academy welcomes the Budget’s continued emphasis on technology integration across critical infrastructure sectors such as water, power, and industry. The policy direction aligns closely with India’s national climate commitments and creates strong momentum for innovation and faster adoption of energy-efficient technologies.
For Pump Academy, the Budget’s focus on energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and digital solutions directly supports our mission of delivering low-carbon water and energy solutions through advanced pumping system optimisation. This commitment has been further strengthened by the Government of India’s recognition of our technology-led solution, iPUMPNET, with the prestigious National Startup Award 2026, with a cash reward of ₹1 million. The patented iPUMPNET solution has been successfully deployed across 12 pumping stations comprising 78 high-capacity pumping sets for the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB). The implementation has delivered substantial reductions in energy consumption and carbon emissions, resulting in annual energy cost savings of approximately ₹40 crore (USD 4.4 million), and clearly demonstrating the real-world impact of technology-driven decarbonization.
The budget is India’s commitment to prioritising decarbonisation, energy-efficiency, and innovation to shape a resilient and future-ready infrastructure for the nation.
